The Shack

by William P. Young (2007)

I have just finished reading The Shack, by William P. Young, that I rate a 9 out of 10. It is a novel that addresses the question " Where is God in the middle of pain in our lives?" Loraine Smith

A tragic occurance, the abduction of a child, leaves a father depressed and angry with God.  Evidence that the child was murdered was found in an abandoned shack.  Four years later, the father receives a suspicious invitation to return to the shack.  He does, and what he finds there changes his life forever.

This books presents  a very comforting concept of how God works in our daily lives and in the midst of tragedy.  The book is hard to put down, I read it in three nights.  It is creative and well written.  I intend to read parts of it again - it was that good.

I would rate it a '9' ( I don't ever rate anything '10' - there is always the possibility that there is a better one out there) , and I don't think I will ever forget it!  It is on the #1 New York Times Bestseller list and can be bought at Books a Million in paperback.
