The Holy Man
by Susan Trott (1995)
“Reminiscent of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales … The book cleverly encapsulates much of the human search for wisdom and happiness," Booklist.
This book holds a mirror reflecting many of my fears, foibles, and fixations at an angle which enabled me to see them clearly. It then provided doable solutions to dismantle barriers I have constructed, separating me from the person I would like to be.
If you don’t see yourself in several of the characters Trott places on the mountain path to see the Holy Man, you’re reading with your eyes closed.
A quick read with accusable insights for anyone in their mid-teens or older. I give it a 7.
