A Land Remembered
by Patrick D. Smith (1984)
"Perhaps animals are smarter than men, he thought, taking only what they need to live today, leaving something for tomorrow ... Maybe it is man who will eventually perish as he destroys the land and all that it offers, taking the animals down with him." Zech MacIvey in A Land Remembered
A Land Remembered takes you into the middle of central Florida’s snakes, gators, boars, skeeters, swamps, and incredible beauty to watch a man and woman plant a family. This grittily poignant story is centered around three generations of MacIveys. Their struggles, successes, and grief helped build Florida and provides a different perspective on the “Land of Sunshine.”
I thoroughly enjoyed it and give it an 8 out of 10. It is available from Pineapple Press (http://www.pineapplepress.com/) and as they say, other fine purveyors of printed matter.
