Daily Meditations
Meditation in Eastern religions has been practiced for over 5,000 years as a way to concentrate attention on some object of thought or awareness. Western religions, including the Episcopal Church, has a similar but less ritualistic approach to “meditation.” Our approach is more a “contemplation” of spiritual matters.
The mediations you find here are short writings to spur contemplation of your relationship with God and what he has given you: people to love and the world to nurture and protect.
Forward Day by Day – Forward Movement Publications is an official agency of the national Episcopal Church. Since 1935 it has produced pamphlets, booklets, and books to encourage and nourish people as they grow in their lives of prayer and faith. It is best known for the popular quarterly devotional Forward Day by Day, providing daily meditations based on readings from the Bible appointed by the lectionaries.
The Almost-Daily eMos – Almost every day, you can receive a brief meditation by Barbara Cawthorne Crafton by e-mail. It is intended to be something to help you start your day with thoughtfulness. Sometimes the eMos are funny and sometimes they're sad. Often, they're both.
The Upper Room - The Upper Room's mission is to provide a model of practical Christianity, accessible in varied formats, to help people feel invited and welcomed into God's presence.
Daily Reading & Meditation – These readings are intended as an aid for daily prayer and meditation. The selection of gospel passages follow the daily Catholic Church readings for the season.
If you have found another on-line source of meditations that might be a good addition to this list, please e-mail it to bmccartney@askAristo.com.
